Prefab Cabinets Picayune | Update

Good afternoon readers of Prefab Cabinets Picayune. We are glad that you have chosen to spend this time with us on this yet again sweltering summer day. Our hearts are somber today in remembrance of the 2001 attack on September eleventh. Despite the tragedy our lives continued forward but forever changed by the events that occurred that day. Let us never forget and always remember.

We are continuing our series based around a personal home remodeling experience. We have had several articles written previously on the real life adventure of first time home remodeling and we hope that these articles help and encourage those who are in the same boat as we.

Remodeling Update

Never thought you would be living in a gutted house frame just weeks before your wedding? Neither did we… But here we are, home remodeling experience update number one million. The kitchen is gutted. The living room is seventy-five percent gutted. The hallway, yes…gutted and blocked with tools. The master bathroom remodeling is on a hiatus, and the bedroom, well let’s just say there is no shortage of dust and clutter. Emotions are wild and the panic is real. We have mere weeks before we need to have this thing livable and yet…it is livable as a medieval peasant cottage. Only with indoor plumbing and electricity.

What’s Going On?

Everything. Everything is going on with remodeling. Where do I even start? The kitchen is a pretty big and nasty project right now. The ceiling is exposed to the roof and all the insulation needs to be put back up there including new sheet rock. Good luck to the hubby with that one. Speaking of the ceiling…a massive beam had to be placed up there that took three men to get it up. A supporting wall was knocked out along with one other wall.

We are going to move the front door to the other side of the house and luckily for us as we were tearing down walls we discovered that someone had already framed in a doorway. So that was a little surprise for us. We were going to put in our old cabinets (to my disliking) and lo and behold we were blessed with new cabinets. The electrical work has been a mess but we’ve got that down finally…I think. Sparks and electrocutions later I pretty sure it’s done. Once the sheet rock is up on the walls and done we can paint and that’s that.

Living Room

I’m not sure where we’re going to be with the living room, but the “plan” is there will be a fireplace. As far as the walls I’m hoping that it’s plain ole sheet rock that I can paint. The “plan” so I was told was that the house will have a rustic cabin feel which I am not totally cool with so I’m going to incorporate my style into this cabin theme. A little glam? A little classic chic? Don’t mind if I do.

Bathroom

Like I said before the master bathroom is at a standstill while we tear apart the kitchen. We are still going to tile up the inside and outside of the shower while putting up wood planks behind the tub…we still have to drill holes and do some surgery on the tub frame. I don’t even want to think about the counter tops for the kitchen and bathroom. Granite is awesome and all, but the price next to Formica? I’d rather get nice looking counter tops now that look like granite than have extra cheap floor planks glues to the wood again. Maybe I’m being too picky and ungrateful, but…

Tip of the Week

The tip of the week is brought to you by Wild’s Cabinets and Flooring. We got yo back. Today’s tip of the week is go to sleep. When you feel yourself about to pass out, go to sleep.
