Prefab Cabinets Picayune | Game Rooms
Good afternoon readers of the new and improved Prefab Cabinets Picayune. We are so glad you decided to join us on this stifling hot summer day. It is that hour when everyone is yearning for that afternoon nap and can’t remember their own name or how to breathe. Maybe this country should adopt the tradition of siestas. Just saying. Personally I can’t to get home so I can sleep. I never thought I’d be the kind of person who looks forward to sleeping. I even got a decent amount of rest last night yet…I can’t stop dreaming of going home and sleeping.
Every home at some point needs a recreational space to store all of their fun stuff. In our home we plan on building an addition that will incorporate games systems and a pool table that I personal do not want to take with me when we move. It is a huge eyesore as fun as it is, but I can’t wait to be rid of it forever. Game rooms are an outlet for parents and children. Husbands have an excuse to act like children. Children have a space they can play and have fun. Wives have a place to shove all their husbands crap so it doesn’t interfere with the rest of the house.
That is basically the true purpose of the game room. It is a place to store everything you don’t have a place for in other areas of the house. But making sure the game room isn’t a tacky piece of crap is actually a difficult task especially if your husband thinks the house is all about him and what he wants. This is what I am going through at the moment. The husband doesn’t seem to understand how life works from a woman’s perspective. His way is the right way. But I digress.
Game Room Decor
Making a game room look like a part of the house while still maintaining its purpose is quite the task. But it can be done. With a lot of thought and planning a game room can look just a sophisticated as the rest of the house. Once you set your husband straight you can then proceed to making the game room look nice. You want to start with wall color and flooring and then move on to furniture and smaller decor. The base is always the most important to stem everything else off of.
Wall Color & Flooring
Wall colors need to go with the rest of your house if you want your game room to blend. Make sure to take into consideration how wall color is going to reflect against all of the television screens and what not. It can make difference, as well as the placement of windows. Having a window that close to a television will really screw up the way you have to watch television or play a video game. Flooring should be something that can’t be destroyed and scratched easily such as luxury vinyl tile or planks which is an affordable option compared to ceramic tile.
Furniture & Decor
Furniture needs to be comfortable and suitable for chilling. If that makes sense. A game room is going to have a lot of sitting and lazing around in it so the furniture needs to be nice, but comfortable. I would suggest going with soft leathers and stain resistant fabrics for couches and chairs. A really nice entertainment center would help you out a lot especially with storage. When the game room isn’t being used you can store things away and even use the game room as a sitting area.
