Prefab Cabinets Picayune | Decorating Health

Good afternoon readers of the new and improved Prefab Cabinets Picayune! We are glad that you have decided to join us today on this painfully hot afternoon. Who really wants to leave the house in weather like this? Maybe a few of you weirdos. To make matters even more inconvenient the weather tomorrow is supposed to be absolutely horrible. Not everyone is privy to the ways of driving in tornadic activity. Now yours truly have to deal with the mental nagging that I have failed to make it to my ministerial class. So much for independence.

Decorating For Your Mental Health

I have written previous about how decorating impacts your mental health, but never really from a personal perspective. Information from a second hand source is one thing. Having information from the primary source is another. Wild’s Cabinets and Flooring is aware and conscious of the mental health and well-being of our customers. We have taken extensive measures to care for our customer’s mental health and we will talk about that later in the article. First we are going to get into the details surrounding the theory that the way you choose to decorate you home can impact your mental health either positively or negatively.

The Basics

Whether a specific decoration will help or hinder ones mental health is entirely centralized to the individual. What would help one person may hinder the other. For instance, I need sunshine and comforting cool toned colors with accents that pop. Decor that reminds me of things I love and love to do is also helpful in creating that safe space. Cats are a frequent feature in my decorations whereas someone else might find peace in fishing decorations. It is all about creating that safe space that is completely unique to you.

At times it is healthy to sit down and assess your spaces. Are you living in a mentally healthy space or do your decorations bring you peace and joy? As partial as you might be to some decorations if it is harmful to your mental health the best thing to do is to get rid of it, not necessarily toss it, but keep it stored away safely until you are mentally healthy enough to put it back into your home. There was a time when yours truly had to remove certain vinyl from my room for a better peace of mind. Now that I am recovered I can pull the old vinyl out again.

Calming Colors

The colors schemes you pick can be detrimental to your mental health. There are studies that show that certain colors illicit physical and mental responses. For instance, warm colors are typically known to incite action and energy whereas cooler colors are known to calm and relax. Depending on the state of your mental health warm colors such as red and orange may cause more anxiety or anger. Cooler colors such as grey could make a depressed individual feel more hopeless. Blues, especially mint have been known to cause the most peaceful, calm feelings in humans.

Parents are starting to take the color mental health theory into action, painting the walls of nurseries accordingly. Blues, greys, soft pinks and purples are helping children calm down and sleep. Does this work for every child? Of course not. But when you are wide away with blood shot eyes rocking a screaming child to sleep you will be willing to try anything. I don’t have children, but I think I’d do just about anything (safely) to get my kid to stop squalling and go to sleep.

Tip of the Week

The tip of the week is brought to you by Wild’s Cabinets and Flooring. We got your back. Today’s tip of the week is always watch the weather. If you don’t watch the weather you could end up taking a chance going to church one afternoon and getting stuck in Hattiesburg in tornadic activity because you failed to pay attention to the weather and what it was going to do. If you watch the weather and take the warnings into consideration you won’t find yourself in that kind of predicament like yours truly almost did. Do the right thing and watch the weather.
