Is navy the new big shot neutral in homes? Apparently this oldie but goody neutral is finding its way in to homes everywhere. Unfortunately not everyone has that keen eye of fashion and design to incorporate navy into their homes in a way that actually works and does not look like a tacky mess. Wild’s Cabinets and Flooring is here to offer our informational and opinionated services for our customers and readers of Custom Cabinets Picayune. Navy can be a little intimidating to someone who has never stayed from the comfort of traditional neutrals such as brown, beige, white, and such. We are here to say, you have nothing to fear! Today we are going to talk about ways in which you can incorporate navy into your home without getting nasty and gaudy.
Navy adds drama to a space, and not in a high school girl steal your boyfriend kind of way. Classy drama can add elegance to a room. No matter how you incorporate it navy in small doses will cast a slight regal feel to a room. You will barely have to do anything after adding touches of navy to a space. Whether is be decor or large pieces navy has the power to change a room in tiny gestures.
Wild’s Cabinets and Flooring has yet to write an article in the Custom Cabinets Picayune series about the newly famous tuxedo kitchen. Typically a white and black cabinet thing going on, adding navy in place of one of the other colors not only adds some pizzazz to a ordinary kitchen, but it also switches things up a bit by deviating from the expected black and white tuxedo. Imagine how the human population felt when men realized they did not always have to wear black and white tuxedos. You are welcome, ladies.
Stylish Built Ins
On another foot, homes are being remodeled with more built ins than they have in past times. Customization and personalizing are two big words we want to remember this season as far as home design is concerned. Navy built ins is just another way to add some uniqueness to a space without getting too ridiculous. Built in table and chairs, kitchen islands, bookshelves–there really is no limit to what can be done, but just do it navy and then your home will be beyond stylish and updated.
Sick of staring at that stained and out dated kitchen back splash? Now is the perfect time to replace the old tile or whatever yellowed junk that is there right now with navy. Using the material of your choice add a splash of navy to your kitchen. Back splashes are ideal for sneaking in some unique detailing in an otherwise simple kitchen. Not only is navy a neutral that essentially will go with any color or scheme, it is just daring enough that it adds a pop of color to enhance the style and design of your kitchen.
Custom Cabinets Picayune readers may have noticed that we already have an article written up talking about statement pieces. But right now we want to talk about navy statement pieces in general. We mentioned that navy is a great way to add a pop of color without getting too crazy. A statement piece in navy does the same without getting gaudy. Nothing ruins a space like a piece of hideous furniture. It will make a statement alright, but not that kind you as the home owner is hoping for. A navy statement piece will only add elegance to a space.
Wallpaper (Although We’d Rather You Not)
Navy can spruce up wallpaper. Although Wild’s Cabinets and Flooring would much rather our customers not use wallpaper ever. But if you find yourself in a situation where you do not have much of a choice but to have the wallpaper, do something navy with it. Just please…add navy. Like all over the wallpaper until you can’t see it anymore. That is the only reasonable thing anyone can do for adding navy to wallpaper. Unless you are a brave individual and want navy detailed wallpaper. It takes more effort to make wallpaper look nice and updated. Navy is one way you achieve that look.
If there is any room in a home that needs a serious calming effect, it is the bathroom. Yes, the grand throne room needs an update and what better color to use for a face lift than the new big neutral navy? Paint the walls navy, get navy tiled floor, decorate with navy accessories–just whatever you do, do not incorporate all that navy at the same time. Please pick one. Just one. Fortunately, navy bathroom decor is a big fad right now so for home owners wanting to update their bathroom this should be an easy and budget friendly way to do so.
